I.n.t.e.r.e.s.t.i.n.g. In Hinduism, the right-facing symbol (clockwise) (卐) is called the swastika, which symbolizes surya (‘the sun’), prosperity, and good fortune, while the left-facing symbol (counterclockwise) (卍) is called the sauvastika, which symbolizes the night of Kali or tantric aspects.
